Hello fear, my friend,
thank you for this failure.
The simple paved path I chose to coast
is finally collapsing
forcing me to adapt.
As it crumbles, water rapidly rising,
this frigid feeling freezes all logic
while stimulating my deprived instinct
and I release what little momentum I’d been clinging to.
I flail frantically
in an attempt to stay afloat
but the initial panic pushes my head under
I sink.
The quiet state of this place whispers
and I take it all in, absorbing it through my skin
as an overwhelming calm ripples
throughout my entire body.
I thrust myself upward
my head breaks the surface
and I realize this terrain is anything but stagnant,
the liquid mountains that surround me
ease in sync
while the current carries me toward the shore.
